FECC Appoints Arns as Director General

The European Association of Chemical Distributors (FECC) has appointed Dorothee Arns as its new director general with effect from Jun. 3, 2019.

Arns joins from the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) where she is currently executive director of Petrochemicals Europe. Prior to that, she was director general of the European Solvents Industry Group from 2006 to 2011.

A German national, Arns also gained extensive experience working for BASF as a senior manager in various positions.

FECC describes Arns as a “seasoned public affairs professional with a proven track record of successful association management and a commercial background.” It added that the organization will benefit from her knowledge and vision to successfully implement its strategy.

The new executive succeeds Cathy Demeestere, who had served FECC as interim director general since Aug. 16, 2018. Demeestere was also the former secretary general and CEO of the European Petrochemical Association from September 1998 until her retirement in December 2016.
