DuPont Expands PA Resin Capacity in Germany

DuPont has completed a 20% expansion of production capacity for its glass fiber-reinforced PA 6 and PA 6.6 resins, sold under the trade name Zytel, at its Hamm-Uentrop, Germany, plant.

The facility is the US group’ss largest European production facility for the engineering polymer.

The chemical giant said the additional capacity will help it meet growing demand for the polymer, in particular from the automotive industry.

As the producer with the world’s broadest portfolio of nylon products, Richard Mayo, global business director for the PA business, said DuPont continues to “optimize and refresh” its product lines.

In addition to PA 6 and PA 6.6, DuPont – which invented the polymer now widely known as nylon, as a textile product – also manufactures PPA and long chain polyamide (LCPA) resins in Europe, the Americas and Asia and operates compounding facilities in 13 countries worldwide.
