China Ends Methanol Dispute with Saudi Arabia

China will not impose anti-dumping duties on imports of methanol from Saudi Arabia, following an investigation into pricing, a Saudi government official said in remarks published on Wednesday.

China has ended its investigation of Saudi methanol exports, al-Riyadh newspaper quoted Mohammed bin Hamad al-Kathiri, undersecretary at the Commerce and Industry Ministry for technical affairs as saying.

Both China and India launched anti-dumping probes of Gulf firms, including SABIC, to assess whether methanol was being dumped into the Chinese market at below-production prices.

Anti-dumping measures against petrochemical exports taken by both countries last year interrupted trade flows and hurt businesses in the Gulf region.
