Caldic UK, part of Dutch distribution group Caldic, has agreed to acquire Elastomerics, a UK-based specialty chemicals distributor. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

Based in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Elastomerics specializes in distributing polymers and additives to the surface coatings, plastics & rubber and adhesives & sealants industries. “The Elastomerics product portfolio perfectly complements our existing business by expanding our specialty product offering and gives us a much stronger presence in our focus markets. Whilst we already have business in these markets, this acquisition enables us to offer a comprehensive portfolio to our customers,” said Philip Robinson, managing director of Caldic UK.

Caldic has existing distribution centers in Chesterfield and Melton Mowbray in the UK and said the Elastomerics business will continue to operate out of Macclesfield.

Separately, Caldic Italia officially started operating in a new location on Sept. 22. The site in Origgio, Varese, Italy, includes a warehouse with a robotized packing system for food blends as well as a product development laboratory. Caldic said the location offers space for further growth as the business expands.
