Budenheim Expands Portfolio with Chelated Minerals
Budenheim Life Sciences is expanding its preventive and specialized nutrition portfolio in the Americas with the launch of a chelated minerals portfolio.
The move broadens the company’s offering beyond phosphates and marks a further step in strengthening its position as a long-term strategic partner to the dietary supplement industry. The addition of chelated minerals marks a further step in the evolution of Budenheim’s Life Science portfolio. The initial Budal Plus portfolio comprises magnesium bisglycinate, ferrous bisglycinate HCl and zinc gluconate, with additional mineral forms planned. Together with its existing mineral business, Budenheim now provides both chelated and non-chelated mineral forms within one integrated portfolio, enabling manufacturers to address solubility, buffering, taste, stability, and formulation purity across different mineral types.
Chelated minerals are chemically bound to organic molecules, typically amino acids, to support bioavailability and nutrient stability. These mineral forms are recognized for high gastrointestinal tolerance and are widely used in preventive nutrition applications. With this expansion, Budenheim aligns its portfolio with growing demand for high-performance mineral forms in human nutrition.
Budenheim combines more than 100 years of minerals expertise with pharmaceutical-grade discipline and regulatory rigor. This foundation supports consistent product performance and helps customers meet defined quality specifications and regulatory requirements. The Budal Plus bisglycinates and gluconates portfolio is manufactured in the US under Budenheim quality and regulatory oversight, providing reliable supply and consistent quality for supplement manufacturers across the Americas.
The initial launch products (magnesium bisglycinate, ferrous bisglycinate HCl and zinc gluconate) were already available to customers in the United States with samples presented at SupplySide Connect. The Budal Plus chelated minerals portfolio will be expanded in phases across additional mineral forms and markets in the Americas.
“Expanding into chelated minerals allows us to offer our customers a broad mineral portfolio for preventive and specialized nutrition in the Americas,” said Jorge Flores, Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales, Division Life Science. “Supplement manufacturers need mineral forms that combine bioavailability, tolerance, and formulation flexibility with reliable quality and regulatory discipline. With Budal Plus, we are extending our portfolio to support those requirements and to provide dependable supply from US manufacturing and our quality and regulatory framework.”
