Blast rocks Dynamic Plant at Nanjing

An explosion and fire rocked China’s Nanjing chemical industry park in Jiangsu Province on the evening of Jun. 12.

In the English translation of the report by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua said an “epoxyethane device” at a plant owned by Dynamic in the park touched off the blast and the subsequent fire that raged for nearly six hours and spread to three of six nearby 1,000 cbm chemical tanks.

Three plant workers and a firefighter were slightly injured as they were putting out the fire in Xinhua said, adding that workers were moved to “safe areas.”

The agency quotes environmental authorities as saying the incident had “little impact on the air and surrounding waterways.”
