Biesterfeld Spezialchemie, part of the German Biesterfeld group, has won exclusive German distribution rights for the entire product portfolio of France’s Polyprocess.

With the deal that takes effect immediately, the leading European specialty chemicals distriibutor will sell the French company’s range of polyester products, including gelcoats, topcoats, fire-resistant systems, tooling systems and modeling paste in addition to vinyl ester and epoxy vinyl ester products, east of the Rhine river.

Polyprocess and Biesterfeld already have an active distribution partnership in eastern Europe, where the companies said there is great demand for tooling, in particular from

the transport, marine, and caravan industries. The sanitary sector is another growing market segment.

"Our experience in eastern Europe has shown us that our customers are looking for alternatives for high-performance gelcoats and tooling system,” said Johannes Martin, Performance Products sales manager at Hamburg-based Biesterfeld Spezialchemie.

The German distributor has also extended its long-standing partnership with US petrochemicals group ExxonMobil Chemical. Biesterfeld is now selling ExxonMobil’s Vistalon-brand EPDM in Ireland and the UK.

In July, the company extended its partnership with Solvay to distribute the Belgian group’s sulfone polymers in the UK and Ireland. With effect from the beginning of August, it gained distribution rights for Solvay’s Tecnoflon FKM fluoroelastomers in the Brazilian, European and Russian regions.
