BASF Completes Acquisition of AgBiTech
On March 31, 2026, BASF Agricultural Solutions completed the acquisition of AgBiTech. This follows the agreement signed in January 2026 with private equity firm Paine Schwartz Partners and other shareholders, and the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.
The acquisition enables BASF to scale biological solutions faster and make them more widely available. At the same time, the company reaffirms its commitment to providing farmers with effective and versatile tools to control insect pests.
"The market for biological solutions continues to develop very dynamically. The acquisition of AgBiTech strengthens our position in this attractive segment and adds proven biological technologies to our existing portfolio. We warmly welcome our new colleagues - together we will actively drive change in agriculture for our customers by further expanding the range of biological solutions worldwide," says Livio Tedeschi, President of BASF Agricultural Solutions.
Adriano Vilas-Boas, CEO of AgBiTech, adds: "With BASF at our side, we are reaching an important milestone in making biological solutions for controlling insect pests accessible to farmers around the world. With BASF's global presence, excellent research, and deep understanding of agriculture, we will significantly accelerate the impact of our technologies. We are proud of what our teams have built and look forward to this next chapter."
AgBiTech has a strong market position in Brazil, one of the fastest-growing markets for biological crop protection products. The acquisition will enable BASF to introduce AgBiTech's technologies not only in Brazil but also in other countries and integrate them into its portfolio globally. The strengths of both companies - agility, customer focus, and in-depth market knowledge - are the key to supporting farmers with effective solutions.
