BASF Adds Medical Grade Plastics Team in Japan

Adapting its medical marketing strategy to the needs of an aging population, BASF'S Japanese subsidiary has added a Health & Medical industry team.

The new cross-divisional team to be introduced at CPhI Japan, scheduled for Apr. 22-24 in Tokyo, is aimed especially at Japanese demographics. According to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, by 2025 around 30% of the population will be 65 or older.

As part of the Japanese strategy, BASF said it will leverage "a wide range of innovative products" that can help improve quality of life.

Foremostly, the product range includes high-tech plastics suitable for medical use, such as the high-temperature polymers Ultrason (PESU), Ultraform Pro (POM) Ultramid (PA) Ellastolan (TPU), and the non-phthalate plasticizers used in medical tubes, along with polymers suitable for membranes.

At CPhI Japan, BASF Japan will also exhibit its pharmaceutical ingredients portfolio and services.
