Azelis Takes Turkey’s Tunckaya

Azelis has signed a deal to acquire Tunckaya, a Turkish food ingredients and additives distributor, further strengthening its position in the country’s fast-growing market for food, as well as the broader life sciences sector. The Istanbul-based company employs 25 people and serves more than 500 customers.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, subject to customary closing conditions.

Tunckaya, with its strong relationships in the food market and general market position “is a fantastic addition for our lateral value chain and complements the organic growth of Azelis,” said Sertaç Sürür, managing director of Azelis Turkey. “We look forward to combining our talents and leveraging our combined capabilities and expertise for our customers and principals in Turkey and across the wider EMEA region.”

Last November, Azelis opened a new laboratory in Istanbul for coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE). The Belgium-based  distributor said this enables it to accelerate the roll-out of innovative CASE formulations and technical support to customers in the region.

The laboratory is mostly focused on coatings, including paints and varnishes, in industrial, decorative, marine, can and coil, wood and other markets. It is the first CASE laboratory in Azelis’s Application and Training Center in Turkey, which already runs separate laboratories for food, pharma, home care & industrial cleaning and personal care.
