Arkema’s specialty adhesives business Bostik has acquired LIP Bygningsartikler, a leading Danish producer of tile adhesives, waterproofing systems and floor preparation solutions. Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close early next year, were not disclosed.

LIP has annual sales of around €30 million and operates an automated production plant in Norre Aaby, employing about 50 workers.

The French chemicals group said the “excellent geographic and commercial complementarity of the acquisition will enable Bostik to offer integrated, innovative and high value-added solutions to its customers in Northern European countries,” as well as allowing the adhesives business to “significantly accelerate” its growth in the Nordic countries.

The acquisition follows Bostik’s purchase of Prochimir in October. Headquartered in Pouzauges, France, Prochimir specializes in producing high-performance thermobonding adhesive films at its plants in Vendée, France, and Virginia, USA.
