Arkema Acquires US Photopolymer Specialist

French specialty chemicals producer Arkema has acquired Colorado Photopolymer Solutions. Based in Boulder, Colorado. The US company develops and markets a range of value-added, formulated photopolymer resin solutions for energy curing technology, especially for 3D printing markets.

The acquisition completed in early December complements subsidiary Sartomer’s solutions and expertise in photocure resins and photoinitiators and is in line with Arkema’s strategy to become a pure specialty materials player by 2024.

According to Arkema, CPS’s recognized expertise in photopolymer formulation and design, serving applications in the medical, composites, construction and consumer goods sectors and supported by strong innovation capabilities, will enable Sartomer to support its customers and partners.

Additionally, the combination of strengths will foster the development of an integrated offering of customized and formulated additive manufacturing solutions to accelerate the design of turnkey solutions for the 3D printing market.
