Air Products Wins Gases Project in Taiwan

Air Products has won a contract from one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers to supply industrial gases to a new production plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Air Products San Fu will invest about $900 million to build, own and operate a number of onsite plants to supply ultra-high purity nitrogen, oxygen, argon and hydrogen.

Air Products is honored to be selected once again by our strategic global customer to support their growth with advanced fabs in Kaohsiung,” said Eugene Lu, president of Air Products San Fu. “This project reflects our strong commitment to growing with our electronics customers, building on decades of solid experience and a proven track record.”

The multinational gases group said it has been serving the Taiwan market through for 70 years and has established leading positions in key science industry parks with strong pipeline networks to serve its semiconductor and TFT-LCD customers.  It added that this latest project win joins other major electronics-focused projects in Air Products’ backlog.

Earlier last month, Air Products announced that it had acquired the United Arab Emirates industrial gases business of its rival Air Liquide. The deal included liquid bulk, packaged gases and specialty gases, as well as Air Liquide’s majority share in Middle East Carbon Dioxide (MECD), which owns and operates a liquid CO2 production facility in Bahrain.
