Kemira to Close Pulp & Paper Chemicals Site at Vancouver

Finnish chemicals company Kemira announced plans to consolidate some of its pulp & paper chemical production in North America, resulting in the closure of a manufacturing site in Vancouver, Canada. The Vancouver site produces process and functional chemicals for the pulp & paper segment.

Kemira Acquires Norit’s UK Reactivation Operations

In a move to enter the activated carbon market for micropollutants removal, Finnish chemicals company Kemira has agreed to purchase Norit’s UK reactivation business from Purton Carbons. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of2024. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Finnish chemicals company Kemira is evaluating a possible closure of its site in Pierre-Bénite, near Lyon in France. The site, which employs 13 people, produces ferric chloride and different grades of polyaluminium chloride, and was part of Kemira’s acquisition of Arkema’s water treatment business in 2007.
