KBR Acquires Acetic Acid Technology

US multinational engineering group KBR has acquired an acetic acid technology called Acetica for an undisclosed sum. The carbonylation technology, which was owned and originally developed by Japan’s Chiyoda, uses methanol and carbon monoxide to produce acetic acid.

Afyren Sites Second Organic Acids Plant in Thailand

French greentech firm Afyren will build a second bio-based organic acids plant, this time in Thailand, adding to a first facility in France. Marking its first international project, the new plant will be undertaken in partnership with Mitr Phol, which regards itself as the world’s third-largest sugar producer.

Fluid Energy Sells Acid Business to Dorf Ketal

Canada’s Fluid Energy Group has sold its global modified and synthetic acid business, including the Triton industrial business, to Dorf Ketal FZE, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dorf Ketal Chemicals India, for an undisclosed sum.
