US engineering and construction group Zachry has acquired rival firm Ambitech Engineering for an undisclosed sum. Zachry said the acquisition adds extensive resources, capabilities and market reach.

Ambitech, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, has 750 employees in multiple locations across the US as well as in India, the Philippines and the Middle East. Its primary industry sectors include refining, petrochemicals, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and consumer products.

John Zachry, chairman and CEO of Zachry, said the company is always looking for opportunities to grow and improve its capabilities. “To acquire a high-performing and well-regarded company will be a game-changer for us,” he said, adding that the Ambitech team further enhances Zachry’s ability to provide full-service support to its principal businesses across North America, including engineering, construction, maintenance, turnarounds and specialty services.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Zachry operates 35 offices with over 22,000 employees working in more than 400 locations across North America. The company has worked with major petrochemical companies such as BASF, Ineos, ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical, among others.
