Solenis Completes Quimatec Acquisition

US specialty chemical company Solenis has completed its acquisition of Brazil’s Quimatec Produtos Quimicos and its logistics provider Locatec de Araraquara. Financial details were not disclosed.

Quimatec is Brazil’s leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals for the sugar and ethanol processing industries. Solenis said the acquisition was part of its strategy to broaden its process chemical and industrial water treatment offerings in the global bioethanol market.

Solenis will leverage Quimatec’s strong sales position to offer its water treatment products to sugar and ethanol producers. It will also take Quimatec’s process chemistries and applications technology to its heavy industry markets around the world.

John Panichella, president and CEO of Solenis, said the purchase was a milestone in the company’s Latin American growth strategy, creating new opportunities for continued development.

Quimatec is located in Araraquara, Sao Paulo, and has approximately 110 employees.
