KBR Wins Projects in India, South Korea

KBR is providing its proprietary technology to India’s ACME Group for a new green ammonia plant to be built in Oman. The facility, located in the Special Economic Zone at the Port of Duqm, will be integrated with solar and wind energy and have a capacity of 300 t/d.

Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide a technology license, engineering, proprietary equipment, catalyst and commissioning services. ACME signed a land agreement in August for the project, which will be developed in phases. ACME Group’s founder and chairman Manoj Upadhyay said the first phase is likely to be commissioned by the end of 2022.

“This facility, aimed toward exporting green ammonia to Europe and Asia, will be the first project of this scale,” said Upadhyay. “We selected KBR technology because of its high yields and lowest energy consumption and look forward to a successful project implementation.”

In separate news, KBR announced it has also been selected to supply its dual-pressure nitric acid technology to South Korea’s Hanwha Corp. The US engineering contractor will provide a license, basic engineering design and technical support for a 1,200 t/d plant at Yeosu.

KBR did not reveal a timescale for either project.
