England’s PX Group Buys Fairfield Engineering

UK infrastructure solutions provider PX Group, which operates several critical energy sites, has acquired Fairport Engineering (Fairport), an engineering and materials handling specialist based in northwest England.

The deal, for which financial details were not disclosed, is the company’s first since being acquired itself by Ara Partners in April 2021 and adds materials handling expertise to the range. This, as it noted, is required to be able to transport, import and export materials such as fuels and feedstock as well as products from both single industrial plants and large-scale sites.

Acquiring an engineering base in the northwest England and a third base in the northeast of England where it already has a significant presence at Teesside’s, Saltend Chemicals Park, as  well as in Aberdeen, Scotland, was a key factor in the decision to take Fairport into its fold,  PX Group said.

“This is a strategically important move, given Fairport’s strong footprint in the northwest and its industry-leading materials handling capabilities,” px Group said. “The company has had a strong financial performance in recent years and should integrate seamlessly into our business model.”
