Colorcon Takes Major Stake in India’s Ideal Cures

Colorcon, a US supplier of specialty ingredients, film coating systems and functional excipients for the pharmaceutical and nutritional industries, has bought a majority share in India’s Ideal Cures. Financial terms and the size of the stake were not revealed.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Ideal Cures manufactures excipients and ready-to-use coating systems for solid oral dosage forms. The company has three manufacturing plants in Vasai, Jammu and Khambat, as well as two R&D facilities in Mumbai and Vasai.

Commenting on the acquisition, Colorcon CEO Simon Tasker said: “Colorcon views this acquisition as a further opportunity to expand business in the Indian subcontinent and support the continued growth of the Indian domestic pharmaceutical and supplement markets complementing the business activity of Colorcon Asia as it services the regulated pharmaceutical industry across India.”

Ideal Cures will operate as a fully independent entity within Colorcon.
