Clusters, Crackers & Beyond

14.10.2025 - 15.10.2025

Digital via Zoom

The digital event series highlights the steps needed to achieve climate-neutral chemical production in Europe and worldwide.

The chemical industry, the backbone of many value chains, shapes key areas of the European economy. Currently, a large part of chemical production in the EU is based on oil and natural gas. This dependence on fossil raw materials harbours risks, as their supply is uncertain. The industry is under pressure. Chemical clusters organised around steam crackers are particularly feeling the growing pressure to transform. The challenge: making European production of basic chemicals sustainable for the future. As part of the PtX Lab Talk+ series, the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) und PtX Lab Lausitz are discussing with international experts how the petrochemical industry can become climate-neutral and circular. The focus is on questions such as: How can fossil dependencies be overcome? What measures strengthen the resilience and planning security of the industry? And how can competitiveness be maintained in the long term?
