Nouryon in Sodium Chlorate Deal with Metsä Fibre
Metsa Fibre will use the sodium chlorate in its new €1.6 billion bioproducts mill in Kemi, Finland, that is currently under construction and scheduled to start up in the third quarter of 2023.
As part of the deal, Nouryon will expand and upgrade its facility in Oulo, Finland, to manufacture sodium chlorate using renewable energy.
Johan Landfors, Nouryon’s executive vice president and president, technology solutions and Europe, commented: “Our strategy is to continue expanding in the renewable fibers market, which is an important part of the packaging and tissue markets, by delivering essential specialty chemicals solutions that our customers, such as Metsä Fibre, clearly need.”
