Gelest Breaks Ground on New Production Facility
Jonathan Goff, vice president of the custom synthesis division for Mitsubishi Chemical and president of Gelest said, “We are supporting the trend towards on-shoring business, thereby fortifying the US supply chain for crucial materials for advanced manufacturing.”
One collaboration that will utilize the facility is with Lam Research, where Gelest will develop and manufacture precursor chemicals for Lam’s dry photoresist technology used in EUV lithograph. This advanced semiconductor manufacturing technique will be used in next-generation logic and dynamic random access memory (DRAM) technologies.
To maintain quality and purity, the facility includes a 280 square meter, ISO 7 clean room with advanced analytical instrumentation. The facility complements Gelest’s ongoing expansion in Morrisville, where it established its headquarters in 2001. The site now combines production, R&D, and administration facilities, with new buildings opened in 2011 and 2015 for warehouse and R&D respectively.
Gelest contributes new products and technologies to fundamental materials markets such as microelectronics, as a research excellence center of Mitsubishi Chemical. Mitsubishi Chemical has a network of 295 group companies, a global presence, and multiple sites in Pennsylvania, US, including those for Gelest in Morrisville and Glen Rock.
