Netherlands-based IMCD has been chosen by Solvay Specialty Polymers to distribute its Fomblin perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubrication grades in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The agreement is effective from Apr. 1 2016.

IMCD said Solvay’s Fomblin range seamlessly complements its own lubricants portfolio.

The fluorinated lubricants are said best suited to aggressive chemical and high-heat environments and are often formulated into greases for specific applications in the chemical, electronic, military, nuclear, data processing and other industries.

In separate news, the distributor has opened an office in Tokyo, Japan, the latest in a series of moves in recent years to build up its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company said the establishment of a local office will enable it to further strengthen ties with its Japanese suppliers. “In addition, we intend to bring some of our existing top class suppliers to the Japanese market, utilising our global market presence and market knowledge,” said Gabriele Bonomi, an IMCD committee member.

In Asia-Pacific, IMCD is present in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
