Uzbekistan Plans Fertilizer Complex
23.05.2019 -
German engineering contractor Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions is providing its expertise for a planned fertilizer complex in Uzbekistan.
The new complex is expected to be built in Samarkand, on a site owned by JSC Samarkandkimya, and comprise plants producing ammonium sulfate, urea, melamine and phosphorous-based fertilizers. Output will supply the domestic market, with the option to export.
Leading investor in the project is Cyprus-based Ferkensco Management.
Ferkensco said the facility is in line with the Presidential Decree of Apr. 3, 2019 on reforming the chemical industry and boosting foreign investment in the Republic, along with another Presidential Decree of Feb. 1, 2019 on developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany.
The company added that the project announcement is a significant step for the country, commenting: “The Presidential initiatives support increased synergies between the oil and gas and agriculture sectors, and the use of a specific quality of domestic gas for fertilizer production. The petrochemical industry and fertilizers have an important role to play in growing Uzbekistan’s economy in the upcoming years.”
