Leading chemical distributor Brenntag has boosted its presence in the UK with the acquisition of Tan International.

Headquartered in Perth, Scotland, Tan distributes and blends specialty and industrial chemicals and ingredients for industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, agriculture and energy.

“The company’s strong relationships with large key accounts as well as its diverse portfolio support our ambition to expand further in focus industries such as food & nutrition, agriculture and oil & gas,” commented Karsten Beckmann, member of Brenntag’s management board and CEO Brenntag Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Anthony Gerace, managing director mergers & acquisitions at the German group, added that the Perth site’s excellent location will also enable Brenntag to enhance its regional coverage and offer improved service capabilities across the region.

The acquired business is expected to generate sales of approximately £21 million in the 2019 financial year.

Just two months ago, Brenntag agreed to buy Brazilian chemical distributor Quimisa and its logistics subsidiary Quimilog.
