Lanxess Expands its Portfolio of Aroma Chemicals, Preservatives and Industrial Additives
This means:
- New business unit Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) is being created
- Expanded range of aroma chemicals and preservatives
- Much broader portfolio of specialty chemicals for industrial applications
- Lanxess is globally present and a reliable partner with a stable supply chain
The New Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) Business Unit
The acquisition of EKC makes Lanxess a leading supplier of flavor and fragrance products for the consumer sector. The products, such as aldehydes and benzoates, score points for top quality, safety and unique aroma profiles for personal care products, cosmetics, exclusive fragrances, as well as food and beverages.
Preservatives for Food, Household and Personal Care Identical to those Found in Nature
Lanxess now has an even wider range of preservatives. The most important are the sodium and potassium benzoates (Kalama, Purox, Kalaguard). They ideally complement Lanxess' existing product range (Velcorin, Nagardo). Kalaguard SB can be used in products that have a green label such as the "Ecolabel".
More Additives for Industry
With the acquisition of Emerald Kalama Chemical, Lanxess is also strengthening its range of industrial specialty chemicals. This will benefit the plastics, paints, coatings and adhesives industries in particular. K-Flex is one of the most important new product lines. It includes phthalate-free plasticizers. Also new are Kalama Vitroflex brand plasticizers and Modulast brand modifiers.
More Sites, Stronger Global Presence
Lanxess gains three production sites through EKC: Kalama/Washington (USA), Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Widnes (UK). This gives the specialty chemicals group an even stronger presence in key sales markets.
