BASF Expands Enzymes Output

01.02.2022 - BASF has expanded its feed enzymes capacity at Ludwigshafen, Germany, to meet growing global demand for its Natuphos E, Nutugrain TS and Natupulse TS products. The German group said feed enzymes have become indispensable for improving efficiency and sustainability in animal protein production.

“Demand is expected to continue to rise in the coming years. This is where BASF wants to expand its position as one of the leading manufacturers of feed enzymes,” said Daniela Calleri, vice president business management animal nutrition.

Last May, BASF announced plans to invest in an enzymes plant at Novartis’ Kundl/Schaftenau Campus in Austria. The German chemical giant said the agreement will enable it to develop a world-scale operation for bacterial enzymes and biotechnology products, strengthening its position in the market. The plant is scheduled to start production in 2024.
