Renewable Energy for BASF Polish Plant
The Polish facility is one of Europe’s major manufacturing facilities for the catalysts, BASF said, providing modern solutions for exhaust gas treatment for light duty and heavy-duty segments.
Through the agreement, Katarzyna Byczkowska, managing director of BASF Polska, said the site will be able to cover 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources. BASF set ambitious environmental objectives to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, Byczkowska, said. “However, to make it a reality, global goals must also translate into local strategies.”
Daniel Wussow, vice president Mobile Emissions Catalysts, EMEA at BASF, added that by increasing its use of renewable energies, the group will be able to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in Poland as well as help automotive OEM suppliers meet the sustainability goals the European automotive industry demands.
