Get More Slip, Leveling and Abrasion Resistance Out Of Coatings

Formulators looking to enhance their coatings without having to make compromises between performance, aesthetics or recoatablility will find Dow Corning 55N Additive is the right choice for improving performance in water-based, solvent-based and UV-curable paints and coatings.

Lower Usage Levels Allow for Fewer Processing Issues
When working with wood, metal and plastic products, the need to reapply coatings throughout the product lifecycle is a continuous challenge. Dow Corning 55N makes an ideal additive for applications where recoating is necessary or desirable. The reactive silicone glycol surfactant, with carbinol functionality, is supplied at 10% actives in propylene glycol methyl ether acetate and can be used as a slip, leveling and abrasion resistant additive in solvent borne, waterborne and UV-cure coatings.
Features and Benefits
• Suitable for use in solvent based, water based and UV-curing paints and coatings
• Provides slip, leveling and abrasion resistance; compatible with many coating systems
• Little to no impact on surface gloss and clarity; can be used in pigmented or clear coats
• Low foaming in solvent or waterborne coatings
• Recoatable - found to improve intercoat adhesion in some applications
• Useful additive during grind, let down or post-add
• Low boiling point - allows for effective drying time
• Effective at low dosages
• Reduces Coefficient of Friction (CoF)
• Good leveling
