Effective October 1, 2018, Uwe Brunk (56) has joined International Chemical Investors Group (ICIG) as President of the WeylChem Group of Companies. Following his own wish, Frank Wegener has stepped down from his position on October 1, 2018 and will leave ICIG in due course in order to pursue other career opportunities outside ICIG.
Uwe Brunk holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Technical University in Berlin and an executive MBA from INSEAD. He has accumulated a vast experience in the Fine Chemcials Industry where he spent his entire career. In his last position, he was a member of the management team of the CABB Group as General Manager Acetyls and Managing Director of CABB among others. Until 2012, he was director of the Agro & Fine Chemicals division at Saltigo, a subsidiary of Lanxess, and can look back on a very broad career at Lanxess and Bayer in production, marketing & sales, strategic planning and general management. Uwe Brunk will be based in Frankfurt-Fechenheim.
“We are delighted, to have been able to attract Uwe Brunk as successor of Frank Wegener. Uwe distinguishes himself as one of few managers with a deep understanding of the fine chemicals industry in line products as well as in custom manufacturing. He is an excellent fit with the capabilities of WeylChem Group”, said Achim Riemann, Managing Director of ICIG.
“We thank Frank Wegener for almost 4 years of service for ICIG and WeylChem,” said Patrick Schnitzer, Managing Director at ICIG. “As President, Frank has been instrumental in further building and growing WeylChem as a strong and sustained business platform and setting up the necessary professional organization and internal business processes. Under his leadership, WeylChem has become an important and recognized player in the Fine Chemicals Industry.”
