Arkema Arm Opens Malaysian Adhesives Plant
31.05.2016 -
Bostik, the specialty adhesives business of France’s Arkema, has expanded its production of cementitious products in Malaysia. The plant in Seremban will supply construction markets in central and north Malaysia and Sabah. Capacity details were not disclosed.
The extended site manufactures ceramic tile adhesives, tile grouts, floor levelling compounds and wall finishing products using Bostik’s polymer modified binder (PMB) technology, which the company said remained an area of focus for innovation and R&D activities. Jeffrey Merkt, Bostik’s senior vice president of Asia, said the investment strengthened the company’s operations in Malaysia, allowing it to respond more quickly to changes in demand.
The expansion comes just two years after Bostik opened a second plant in Malaysia – in Johor Bahru – to serve markets in southern Malaysia and Singapore. It also follows an increase of cementitious powder capacity in the Philippines last month.
