French engineering contractor Technip has been tapped to provide engineering, procurement and technical assistance for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant being built by Fengzhen Wanjie Gas Co at Fengzhen City in China's Inner Mongolia Province.

The facility slated for start-up in the second half of 2016 will consist of 1.3 million Nm³ /d LNG train and a 0.3 million Nm³ /d compressed natural gas (CNG) station.

In detail, Technip's contract covers basic engineering design (BED) of the process plant - which will use an Air Products liquefaction process - BED and detailed engineering design of an LNG tank, along with procurement of key equipment such as the main cryogenic heat exchanger, mixed refrigerant compressor, boil-off gas compressor, LNG in-tank pumps, cryogenic control and on-off valves.

Technip's operating centers in Shanghai, China, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will carry out the work. KK Lim, President of Technip in Asia Pacific, said the contract is "another success for us in the growing mid-scale LNG market in China."
