Taneja most recently successfully led Evonik India locally as president and managing director for more than two years. For his new role, he will return to the Hanau site and replace Steffen Hasenzahl, who has been appointed managing director of Evonik Creavis.

Taneja, who holds a degree in process engineering and an MBA, began his career in 1987 at what was then Degussa. After holding various positions in Production & Engineering, he moved to Mobile, AL (USA), where he was first responsible for hydrogen peroxide production and later as head of Technical Site Services. In 2000, he was appointed head of Technical Controlling & Investments for the global Fine Chemicals business and subsequently assumed responsibility for the development and implementation of the Asia strategy of the then Exclusive Synthesis & Catalysts Business Unit.

In 2005, he moved to New Jersey and was responsible for the integration of Cyro Industries of New Jersey (USA) into the global methacrylates business. In 2007, he became responsible for managing Cyro's monomers business for the Americas region.

After returning to Germany in 2008, he led the strategic projects in the High Performance Polymers business unit and subsequently the High Temperature Polymers growth line from 2011. Since 2016, Taneja has been active in Asia, first as head of the Resource Efficiency segment in the Asia Pacific South region in Singapore and since 2018 as president and managing director of the India region, headquartered in Mumbai.

Sanjeev Taneja has gained extensive experience in technical, commercial and strategic areas in his previous positions. He has successfully driven growth and transformation projects as well as post-M&A projects at an international level.
