OQ Chemicals Sells Dutch Ester Plant to Perstorp
13.12.2024 - OQ Chemicals has sold its ester plant in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to Swedish specialty chemicals group Perstorp.
The divestiture of the plant located in the Port of Amsterdam is part of a strategic realignment at OQ to optimize operational efficiency and drive growth in core business areas. OQ Chemicals will continue to further grow its functional fluids, lubricants and cosmetic ingredients business from its ester plants in Oberhausen, Germany, and Nanjing, China. In a company statement, OQ Chemicals said that it remains committed to reliably serving its customers, expanding its presence in high-growth markets and applications.
In 2009, the predecessor company of OQ Chemicals, Oxea, had acquired the ExxonMobil ester plant that then became OQ Chemicals Nederland and has now been sold to Perstorp to extend its ester capacities and also produce specialties used as precursors for lubricants, flavors and fragrance, pharmaceuticals and high performance plasticizers.
“With this acquisition of OQ Chemicals Nederland, we are further enabling our growth strategy and focus on the specialty chemicals sector as well as sustainable solutions”, said Ib Jensen, President and CEO of Perstorp.
