DuPont has reached "a definitive agreement" to sell its Surface Care business to US-based Laticrete, a manufacturer of solutions for the building industry. Subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the deal is set to be finalized by the end of June.

Laticrete will merge the DuPont StoneTech, Stone Care, and Paver Armor Pro branded products into its existing portfolio sold through professional and retail channels worldwide.

"This business is an excellent fit with our strategic approach," said Ed Metcalf, Laticrete president, North America. DuPont Surface Care offers a range of solutions to protect and preserve stone and tile against the damaging effects of everyday living.

Laminating products sale to Kuraray closes

DuPont has meanwhile finalized the sale of its Glass Laminating Solutions / Vinyls business to Japan's Kuraray. The business is part of DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers.

The $543 million acquisition doubles the size of the Japanese producer's presence in the US and Central and South America.

The business with sales of more than $500 million manufactures polyvinyl butyral and ionomer sheets for safety glass, as well as vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
