The deal gives Ensinger an exclusive styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN)-based range, offering new thermoplastic composite possibilities, such as carbon, glass and natural (flax)-based fiber products for aesthetic materials, semi-structured and overmolding applications, among others.

The StyLight product line was launched in 2016 and has triggered a lot of interest and business across a range of industries, Ineos Styrolution said.

“The addition of the Ineos Styrolution StyLight business is the next strategic building block in Ensinger’s journey to becoming one of the only manufacturers able to offer the complete value chain of thermoplastic composite products,” managing director Ralph Pernizsak said.

Headquartered in Nufringen, Ensinger has about 2600 employees and annual revenues of roughly €430 million. It has rebranded StyLight under its thermoplastic composite materials brand Tecatec.

Wingles ABS conversion complete

Separately, Ineos Styrolution has completed the conversion of one of its PS lines at Wingles, France, to produce ABS. The move makes Wingles the company’s third ABS production site in Europe along with Antwerp, Belgium, and Cologne, Germany.

The newly converted line will have capacity of 50,000 t/y to meet increased demand in Europe for ABS from industries such as construction, compounding, household and automotive. The company continues to produce PS at Wingles for industries that include construction and packaging.
