IMCD Strengthens Americas Presence with PromaPlast Deal
“The acquisition of PromaPlast is an exciting step into a major new market for IMCD México and further expands our capabilities in the US,” said Olivier Champault, business group director at IMCD Advanced Materials. “PromaPlast is a complementary addition to our global network of advanced materials experts and underscores our commitment to expanding opportunities for customers in Mexico and suppliers seeking a strong, reliable channel partner in the region.”
Headquartered in Lerma, Mexico, privately owned Promaplast supplies resins and compounds to the packaging, footwear, consumer goods, home appliances, automotive and other industrial markets, plus additive masterbatches. The company has 109 employees across six sales offices and several warehouses.
PromaPlast general manager Ricardo Méndez said the acquisition is a natural progression into the next phase of the company’s 25-year history.
The purchase is IMCD’s fourth so far this year. In June, the specialty chemicals and ingredients distributor took over China’s Welex, which was preceded in March by the acquisition of Evonlode Foods in the UK. Quelaris Internacional and Polyorganic Tecnologia joined IMCD in February, boosting the group’s footprint in Latin America.
