Fluor Awarded Nearly €1 Billion in Life Science Contracts

02.08.2023 - Fluor has been awarded a €444 million ($487 million) biotech expansion project in Denmark and is in the first phase of a new life sciences production facility in the US valued at €523 million ($574 million). The two contracts will be recognized in the Q2 backlog.

“We are excited to see the significant investments being made globally in the production of cutting-edge technologies and pharmaceuticals that will improve the lives of billions of people,” commented Richard Meserole, president of Fluor’s Advanced Technologies & Life Sciences business. “Delivering these projects will help to increase the speed-to-market and meet the overwhelming demand for new medicines.”

The Texas-based company provides engineering, procurement, and construction services to both leading brands and new innovators. In the life sciences industry, Fluor has been a leading provider of engineering, procurement, construction management and validation (EPCmV) services for more than 40 years.

Also, previously, the company announced that it was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Mitsubishi Chemical Group for its SoarnoL ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) facility in Saltend Chemicals Park, Hull, UK. Fluor booked its undisclosed portion of the contract in the second quarter of 2023. Fluor’s scope of work consists of modifications to the existing facility and a new, second production line that will increase capacity by 21,000 t/a. Mechanical completion is scheduled for summer 2025. When operational, the Saltend EVOH facility will be Mitsubishi Chemical Group’s second largest SoarnoL site in the world.
