Borealis to Acquire All of Speciality Polymers Antwerp
11.08.2014 -
Subject to approval by all relevant authorities, Borealis will acquire full ownership of Speciality Polymers Antwerp.
The polymer producer based at Zwijdrecht, Belgium, near Antwerp is currently a 67:33 joint venture of DuPont Holding Netherlands with Borealis' Belgium-based subsidiaries Borealis Polymer and Borealis Kallo.
Founded in 2000 as a 50:50 jv of Borealis and DuPont, the Belgian plastics producer has a broad portfolio of specialty polymers.
"The acquisition of the full ownership of Speciality Polymers Antwerp is in line with our strategy to grow our polyolefin business in specific market areas," said Borealis CEO Mark Garrett. "Acrylate copolymers are an important building block for our value-added products sold into our core energy and infrastructure market."
Under the share transfer agreement, DuPont will continue to supply its own customers with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and acrylate copolymers produced at the Antwerp facility.
