EPA Fines DuPont for Clean Air Act Violations
13.01.2015 -
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has fined DuPont $531,000 for violating provisions of the Clean Air Act at its chemical manufacturing plant in Deepwater, New Jersey, in the US.
Alleged violations at the multinational group's Chamber Works included improper maintenance and repair of two large refrigeration units, which may have leaked chlorofluorocarbons.
Authorities said DuPont also failed to accurately submit reports under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. Along with paying the fine, the chemical producer was required to correct the problems in its leak detection program and comply with reporting requirements.
The case dates back to 2007 and 2009 audits.
