US coatings group Axalta has appointed Terrence Hahn as CEO, effective Sept. 4, 2018, succeeding Charlie Shaver, who served as the group’s chairman and chief executive since 2013. Hahn will also serve on Axalta’s board of directors, expanding the panel’s size from eight to nine directors. Shaver, who has chosen to step down as CEO to pursue another professional opportunity, will remain on Axalta’s board and serve as non-executive chairman, working closely with Hahn to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

Hahn joins Axalta from Honeywell where he held numerous leadership positions including, most recently, as president and CEO of its Home and Building Technologies business group. Prior to his time at Honeywell, he spent nearly 20 years with Air Products and Chemicals, in a range of business, operations and technology leadership roles.
