Belgian storage operator LBC Tank Terminals has taken a final investment decision to expand its Rotterdam-Botlek facility in the Netherlands.

The project will add 70,000 m³ of capacity, taking the terminal’s total capacity to 180,000 m³. The additional capacity is intended to serve the growing market for storing and transshipping chemicals in the Port of Rotterdam.

Part of the project will comprise adding two more berths to a newly built deep-sea jetty, which can handle vessels up to 75,000 DWT with a maximum draft of 14.5 meters.Completion is planned for the third quarter of 2021.

LBC said the investment is part of a multi-year program to revamp and expand the Rotterdam site.
