Indian Contractor Wins Abu Dhabi Chlor-alkali Plant
16.10.2014 -
India's Nuberg Engineering has won a $15 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a chlor-alkali plant being built by Al Ghaith Industries in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The plant scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2015 will feed the company's expanded capacity for caustic soda, which is being doubled from 140 to 280 t/d.
The caustic soda unit will produce a range of co-products including hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite and calcium chloride for customers in the region's oil and gas industry.
Ali Hamel, chairman of Al Gaith Industries, said the investment, which is aimed at achieving portfolio diversification, will make it one of the largest in its field.
