PPJ will leverage technical support from the Huntsman subsidiary to enhance its textiles manufacturing process and develop new products.

The development of workwear and value-added textiles, such as those with functional finishes, for markets in the US, Europe and Japan will be a key project for the partners, who will use Huntsman’s barrier solutions such as Phobol, Phobotex and Zelan among others.

Phobol is a high-performance fluorochemical fabric finish used in protective clothing, while Phobotex is a non-fluorinated water repellent. Zelan is also a non-fluorinated water repellent, but with 63% renewable content from a variety of plant-based sources.

The agreement strengthens a longstanding relationship between the companies, under which PPJ has already developed a variety of fabrics and garments using Huntsman technologies, including Avitera SE dyes, Novacron Atlantic dyes and High IQ intelligence effects.

Chuck Hirsch, vice president of commercial, Huntsman Textile Effects, noted that the textile sector is Vietnam’s largest export earner. He said: “We are pleased to continue to support PPJ and help strengthen Vietnam’s reputation for high-quality textile production.”
