BASF: Kamieth Will Become CEO, Maas-Brunner Leaves
Chemist Markus Kamieth to Succeed Martin Brudermüller From End of April
Markus Kamieth will become Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF at the end of the Annual Meeting on April 25, 2024. Kamieth, who has a doctorate in chemistry, has been with BASF for almost 25 years and has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since 2017.

He combines strategic vision with operational implementation strength and will provide new impulses to the businesses and teams at BASF.”
The Supervisory Board has appointed Anup Kothari, currently Head of the Nutrition & Health Division, as a member of the Executive Board effective March 1, 2024, and Katja Scharpwinkel, currently Head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region, as a member of the Executive Board and Labor Director effective February 1, 2024.
Scharpwinkel succeeds Melanie Maas-Brunner, who informed the Supervisory Board of her "long-standing wish" not to renew her contract, which runs until January 31, 2024.
On the other hand, the Supervisory Board has extended the contract of Management Board member Michael Heinz until the Annual General Meeting in 2026. Heinz has been a member of the Board of Management since 2011 and is responsible for the Agricultural Solutions, Nutrition & Health and Care Chemicals divisions as well as the North and South America regions.
