Two lines of 350,000 t/y will be built, producing a range of HDPE and LLDPE grades to meet growing demand within the country.

The lines will use Univation’s advanced Prodigy bimodal and advanced Acclaim Unimodal HDPE technologies to cover key end-use applications that include large part blow molding, unimodal and bimodal films, and pressure and non-pressure pipe products.

PT-KPI will also have access to Univation's Ucat J Catalyst to produce grades that cover large-volume product segments, including LLDPE film and HDPE injection-molding applications.   

In addition, the Indonesian firm has chosen Univation’s advanced process control platform Premier APC+ 3.0 to further enhance the Unipol lines’ overall operating performance. Specifically developed for the Unipol process, the APC+ 3.0 platform’s capabilities include optimizing raw material use, maximizing production rates and enabling seamless product-grade transitions.

PT-KPI — the refining and petrochemical arm of holding company PT Pertaminas — said it is pleased to collaborate with Univation as it prepares to introduce a new significant source of PE supply to Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region. The company did not disclose a start-up date for the project.

Univation is also supplying its Unipol PE process for two reactors in Egypt. Red Sea National Petrochemical will install the reactors in the Suez Canal Economic Zone where they will produce a range of HDPE and LLDPE grades to satisfy growing regional and export-focused demand for PE products.

As well as Univation’s Prodigy and Acclaim technologies, Red Sea will also deploy Xcat technology for producing specialty metallocene films for a wide-range of applications in food preservation, shipping and agriculture.
