One award is from South Korea’s Hanwha Solutions, which is planning a 300,000 t/y PE and ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) plant in Yeosu.

“Hanwha is an experienced producer of LDPE and EVA resins in South Korea and we are excited that Hanwha opted for the Lupotech T process to expand their production capacity with this significant award,” said Neil Nadalin, director global licensing and services at LyondellBasell.

The second contract was from PKN Orlen in Poland, which will install a 250,000 t/y LDPE plant at its existing site in Plock.

“Once the plant is started-up, PKN Orlen will expand its product portfolio with benchmark LDPE resins. The program to expand the value chain of olefins, especially ethylene and downstream products, is in line with PKN Orlen’s strategy,” said Daniel Obajtek, PKN Orlen’s president, adding that the LDPE project is the foundation for further development, also contributing to an increase in petrochemicals’ share of the group’s EBITDA.

A start-up date for both projects was not disclosed.
