The value of the contract is $239 million – the name of the company that won the work was not revealed.

The partners are targeting a nameplate capacity of 350,000 t/y of suspension PVC. The plant – Qatar’s first for PVC – will be integrated with Qatar Vinyl’s facilities at Mesaieed Industrial City, sourcing VCM feedstock from existing production. Construction is expected to be finished by mid-2025.

The project aims to position Qatar as a new regional player in PVC production, expanding the potential of local industries and meeting rising domestic demand for the polymer in industries such as construction. The plant will also provide opportunities to export PVC to international markets.
