LyondellBasell Wins China PE/PP Projects
“The selection of the Hostalen ACP technology was the best choice for us as we are very satisfied with the performance of our existing Hostalen ACP line,” said Lu Wei Wei, vice president of Zhejiang Satellite. “The market appreciates the HDPE resins out of LyondellBasell’s low-pressure slurry process and the technology enables us to produce reliably and economically.”
The plant will produce a full range of multi-modal HDPE products, which LyondellBasell said has process advantages when used in pressure pipe, film, blow molding and caps & closure applications.
This latest license brings the global nameplate capacity of Hostalen ACP plants to over 10 million t/y, according to LyondellBasell.
In a separate contract, the chemicals and plastics group has been selected to supply its Spherizone and Spheripol technology for two PP units proposed by Jinneng Chemical (Qingado). The plants will each have a capacity of 450,000 t/y.
Qin Qingping, founder and CEO of parent company Jinneng Science & Technology, said: “We are excited to expand our existing relationship with LyondellBasell. The selected Spherizone technology will allow us to effectively enter new markets and applications due to superior product properties whereas the Spheripol technology will support our aim to grow effectively in volume on a global benchmark basis.”
Neil Nadalin, LyondellBasell’s director of licensing, said the second contract from the Chinese firm comes as Jinneng Chemical approaches start-up of its first Spheripol process line.
